"The publication of our Africa Strategy 2009-2014 is a very significant and important development for the Irish Red Cross. When we produced our overarching International Strategy 2007-2012 it represented the first time the organisation developed such a strategy. It was well received and highly commended at the time.
I am pleased to be able to report that the International Strategy remains as relevant today as it was when it was first published. It continues to provide the road map for all we do overseas. The International Strategy clearly stated that Africa would be a priority region for the Irish Red Cross. It also affirmed that by 2009 the Irish Red Cross would develop and publish a five year Africa Strategy. Following a detailed and thoroughly consultative process both internally and with our key external stakeholders and partners I am delighted to present the completed Africa Strategy 2009-2014."
