How does it work?
If you are a PAYE tax payer and have given €250 or more to the Irish Red Cross in the course of a tax year, the Irish Red Cross can reclaim the tax paid on your donations.
For example, a €250 donation will be worth an extra €62.50 if you are a standard rate tax payer. If you are a higher rate tax payer, it will be worth an extra €173.73.
We can claim tax back for the past four years – so if you donated €250 or more in 2008, this year is our last chance to claim the tax on it.
If you are taxed as a married couple, either party can sign the form using either person’s PPS number.
If you are a pensioner, you may pay some PAYE tax on your pension and we can claim on this amount.
If you are self-assessed, or a corporation, you can reclaim the tax paid on your donations. You will need a copy of your donation history to attach to your assessment form.
What do I need to do?
1. Fill in your CHY2 Form with your details
2. Include your PPS number*
3. Sign it
4. Return your completed form to: Irish Red Cross, Freepost, 16 Merrion Square, Dublin 2
*The PPS number is given to you by the Revenue Commissioners. You will find it quoted on any form or correspondence sent to you by them. You can also find it on your pay slips.
The tax we’ll reclaim will help survivors of natural and man-made disasters all over the globe. And if every Red Cross supporter returns their form, the Revenue Commissioners will have to give us thousands of Euro. That’s a fantastic sum of money to go towards rescuing, reaching and caring for people suffering the worst times of their lives.
