Why we don't send volunteers overseas

The international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is made up of 186 National Societies including the Irish Red Cross.
As each National Society has the capacity to draw upon its own body of volunteers, we don’t send volunteers overseas. Not only does the Movement save time and money, but local volunteers have the advantage of speaking the language, knowing the region, and understanding the culture.
There are however other ways in which you can get involved with the Irish Red Cross such as Volunteering in your local community and fundraising.
