Irish Red Cross Assistant Secretary General Position

The Irish Red Cross Society is dedicated to the provision of emergency and humanitarian relief both at home and abroad, through its network of volunteers.

Applications are now invited for the post of Assistant Secretary General. The person appointed will be responsible for assisting the Secretary General in the day-to-day management of the Irish Red Cross.

Reporting to the Secretary General, he/she will assist in decision making on resource and financial allocation, ensure that work is co-ordinated and integrated and that systems and procedures are fully utilised and developed.

In conjunction with the Secretary General, the appointee will assist in the human resource function including staff training and development,implementation of employment/ health and safety legislation, and volunteer and staff relations.

The appointee will be involved in developing ongoing co-operation with the International Secretariat and other relevant external bodies and agencies. The person will also deputise for the Secretary General from time to time.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced manager with a proven track record of working within a challenging and changing environment. A detailed job description is available on request.
