The Irish Red Cross has now set-up a helpline telephone number and a website for anyone who wishes to apply for humanitarian aid, following the recent severe floods.
Anyone who wishes to apply for aid under the scheme should contact the Irish Red Cross on CallSave: 1850 50 70 70 or log onto www.redcross.ie/irishfloods where they can obtain details and an application form in relation to the scheme. A link to the application form is also available from the homepage of the Irish Red Cross website www.redcross.ie.
The criteria for applicants is (1) Death (2) Serious Injury (3) Damage to Home and (4) Extreme Hardship. Advertisements announcing the details of the scheme will be published in the national newspapers over this weekend and in the local media during the course of next week.
The procedure remains the same as previous schemes. Each application will be thoroughly assessed in confidence and strictly on its own merits. No allocation of funds will be made until after the Irish Red Cross has completed its interim assessment and advised the government.
Ends.
