
Ayush is one of the elderly residents who receive care from the local Red Cross branch in the coal mining town of Baganuur, which is more
than 100 km away from Ulaanbaatar, but is still considered an administrative district of the capital. Local Red Cross volunteers here have
helped the community face many challenges, from trying to find ways of supplementing their incomes, to dealing with the aftermath of a mass
poisoning from home made alcohol several years ago.

In the first six months of 2012 Slovak Red Cross Levice branch provided social assistance to 3,530 citizens in need. By building trustworthy
relationships and co-operating with Municipalities, General Practitioners and Social services providers, the Red Cross Call Centre has
ensured long-term assistance for citizens in need.

Throughout severe winter weather, the Irish Red Cross support communities nationwide as part of the winter emergency plan.
