We’re all about spreading the love here in the Irish Red Cross. Especially when it puts a smile on someone else’s face. Nothing makes us smile more than the creative people around the country who come up with (sometimes wacky) ideas to help people in crisis.
Here’s three of our favourite supporter events that you might like to join in with…
What is it? Former Lord Mayor of Dublin Michael Mulcahy and friends are organising the Jasmine Ball, which will take place in Dublin on May 6th this year. This charity ball will raise much needed funds so the Irish Red Cross to continue helping children and families impacted by years of conflict in Syria.
How can you get involved? Come along to the ball and bring everyone you know. It’s set to be a great night with a three course fine dining menu, music from the Bentley Boys and an auction of wonderful prizes (all of which have been donated) including a spa break! Tickets can be bought online at www.redcross.ie/jasmineball.
What is it? Valery Larkin in County Clare is using her love of knitting to achieve two goals. First she – and an army of fellow knitting fanatics from around the world – are attempting to break the Guinness World Records for the Largest Knitted Blanket. Once they’ve achieved that, they will take the giant blanket apart and make 100+ blankets for refugees being housed through the Irish Red Cross Register of Pledges.
How can you get involved? The deadline for the world record is looming, so if you can knit – whip out those needles and stitch a couple of 6 inch squares. You can send them to us here at 16 Merrion Square, Dublin or directly to Valery Larkin, 25 Riverside, Inagh, Co. Clare, V95 PK24, Ireland
The Sunrise Summit Challenge
What is it? This is the inside scoop as this event won’t be announced until next week. 2017 will be the third year that hiking and adventure fans around the country have joined together for this charity adventure challenge. The Sunrise Summit Challenge is a unique and exhilarating opportunity to take a guided sunrise trek to the summit of a choice of six mountains in time to view the sunrise.
How can you get involved? View the sunrise with our other supporters. To register your interest and get more details about which mountains, when and how, email Alison on email@example.com
Don’t forget, you can become part of our online community with just a tweet, like and share and help grow awareness of the crisis situations our beneficiaries face and the ways in which the Irish Red Cross helps them build safer, stronger lives. We’ve included links to our top 3 social media channels below.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
