When disaster strikes, we must be ready – will you help?
Nepal is a beautiful country, with the Himalayas a spectacular presence. The people are kind and welcoming. For thousands of years, they have somehow survived in challenging conditions.
Nepal is also one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world.
Earthquakes, floods, and landslides are all too common. More than 80% of the Nepali people are at risk from these disasters. With support from kind people like you, the Irish Red Cross was there to help when tremendous earthquakes struck in 2015.
But given Nepal’s vulnerabilities – made worse by climate change – we knew we had to do more than react.
And that’s why we are asking for your help.
The Irish Red Cross is most effective when we are prepared – and we can’t predict when or where disaster will strike next. Your past support meant we could spring into action – in Ireland or around the world.
And that’s why we are asking Right now, we need to raise €50,000 by October 1. Your gift means we can be ready to act quickly - here at home or around the world.
Your support for the Irish Red Cross helps us provide immediate live-saving aid in countries like Nepal, Syria, Yemen and here in Ireland. Wherever disaster strikes or war threatens, we are there – thanks to you – to help the poorest and most vulnerable. I have seen what a difference we can make with your help!
€35 could help provide urgently-needed medical supplies
€50 can provide a family with a food parcel
€100 could help provide emergency shelter
€250 could provide foam mattresses, sleeping bags and a heater for 5 person family tent
If not for the remarkable kindness our supporters show for people at home and many thousands of miles away facing the very worst moments of their lives, this work of providing shelter, emergency medical cover, food, clean water and supplies would not be possible.
Your gift of any size will be treasured.
* Donations of €250+ are worth 45% extra to the Irish Red Cross if you pay income tax or capital gains tax – at no extra cost to you. If you do not wish to receive updates in the post from us, please email email@example.com or call Freephone 1800 50 70 70.
