When crisis hits and disaster strikes, the Irish Red Cross have developed specialist search and rescue teams to assist people missing, injured or in other difficulty.
Just like a cold October night, a boat was in distress on Lough Corrib in Co Galway. And three lives were in grave danger. The engine had failed, causing it to drift onto nearby rocks where it was punctured. Three local fishermen were trapped on the sinking boat. But because of you, our Irish Red Cross Lifeboat and our volunteers in the Corrib Mask Search and Rescue unit were able to reach the men in time. And save their lives.
This unsung team of 2,000 everyday, ordinary Irish Red Cross heroes are in communities all over Ireland right now – volunteering 24/7 to help the most vulnerable and at-risk individuals. Helping save lives.
And now these brave Irish Red Cross volunteers are being called on to support the National Ambulance Service during the Covid-19 crisis.
Your support will help our teams access the resources and equipment they need to respond and save lives.
€100 could help equip an Irish Red Cross Lifeboat
€250 could help support our Irish Red Cross ambulance transfer service
€500 could help to fund a defibrillator to stop a heart attack
* Donations of €250+ are worth 45% extra to the Irish Red Cross if you pay income tax or capital gains tax – at no extra cost to you.
