Edenderry branch of Irish Red Cross has won plaudits locally for its work in support of Men’s Health Week.
Eleven members of the Edenderry Men’s Shed were given First Aid training by a team led by Unit Officer Madeline Hanlon that included Jennifer Finney and Edel Mahon.
The men were taught CPR skills and passed their assessment to become Cardiac First Responders.
“If one life is saved through having people trained to sustain life until an ambulance arrives, then this course has been life-saving,” Madeline told the men, according to the Offaly Topic.
The men expressed a keen interest in further training and are also considering purchasing and AED.
The Edenderry SHED is supported by Offaly Local Development Company (OLDC) under its Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme.
