Units from Tipperary branches of the Irish Red Cross were drafted in to help with the transfer of residents from St Patrick’s hospital to new facilities.
At the request of the HSE, vehicles from Cashel, Tipperary, Clonmel, and Roscrea branches were on-hand to move 34 residents to Our Lady’s Hospital Cashel, where there is more space for patients and long-stay residents needing nursing and other care.
After briefings and preparatory activities, crews and officers reported to the Red Cross Hall Cashel on 8th June for final instructions. Although the residents had all been confirmed as testing negative for Covid-19, the utmost care was taken to ensuring their safety and the safety of Irish Red Cross members and the correct use of PPE and sanitization was crucial.
All residents were safely transferred to the Our Lady’s Hospital and the Hospital Manager and Director of Nursing conveyed their sincere thanks to the Irish Red Cross for its assistance in the smooth transfer.
