The Irish Red Cross was today announced as Lottoland’s chosen charity for 2018.
The launch of the partnership took place outside Irish Red Cross HQ earlier today, where it was also announced that this initiative would be kicked off with a digital makeover of the Irish Red Cross ambulance fleet. This makeover will see money raised by the online lottery company used to digitise all reporting and traditional paper-trail administration for the Irish Red Cross’ entire fleet of 130 emergency ambulances, saving each vehicle crew 1.5 hours per day which equates to 71,175 personnel hours per year. Discarding old paper-based management systems will dramatically improve efficiency around tasks such as ambulatory-care reports, patient-care reports, lifesaving equipment checks and daily fleet management.
Lottoland will donate the entire sales proceedings of this Friday night’s massive EuroMillions draw of €174 million to deliver the estimated €50,000 needed to deliver the ambulance digital makeover.
Graham Ross, Irish Country Manager with Lottoland, explained that the Irish Red Cross was chosen due to its extensive work on the ground in Ireland but also because the charity helps vulnerable communities abroad.
Irish Red Cross’ National Director of Units, Tony Lawlor, spoke at yesterday’s launch and said “the new tablet devices will greatly enhance the ability of Irish Red Cross volunteers on local event ambulance cover nationwide to report on patient care securely and in real time. Not only that, but the devices will allow us record vehicle pre-event checks, log volunteer hours and confirm crew cover so this valuable sponsorship will really make a different to the quality of event cover and reporting that the Irish Red Cross provides in future.”
Irish Country Manager with Lottoland, Graham Ross added; “this is our most ambitious CSR charity project in Ireland to date and our first full-scale partnership with a major Irish charity. We are delighted to be partnering with the Irish Red Cross, who do so much for medical care, the elderly and disaster relief at home and abroad. In working together to plan the partnership projects, we’ve learned so much about the incredible work they do, particularly their huge volunteer base who give their time so selfessly for those less fortunate. As a disruptive digital technology company with innovation in its DNA, we are particularly excited to be working to generate funds for the digitisation of the ambulance fleet. Now we just hope that the Irish public at large support the partnership by digging deep and generating a massive donation via our truly unique EuroMillions Rollover draw on Lottoland.ie and the Lottoland App this Friday. Remember every single cent spent on the draw will go to the Irish Red Cross and that has to be something to really get behind!”
