Two teams from the Irish Red Cross will fly the flag for Ireland this week when they travel to Austria for FACE 2013.
FACE (First Aid Convention in Europe) is an annual competition in which Red Cross Red Crescent teams from across Europe compete to be crowned as the best First Aid team. Last year the competition was hosted in Ireland by the Irish Red Cross and was won by team Italy.
As the host country of FACE 2012, rules depicted that the Irish Red Cross could not submit a team last year but allows for two teams to enter for the 2013 competition. The teams are chosen at the Presidents Cup, an annual Irish Red Cross event in which teams from around the country compete to win a place at FACE. The Louth team won the Presidents Cup in 2012 and the Cork team won in 2011.

The competition which will be officially launched on Friday June 14 with an opening ceremony with the competition taking place on Saturday.
