Lottoland Partnership with Irish Red Cross Helping to Fund Food Parcels During Christmas and Support Community Volunteer Works Nationwide
Almost 10,000 food deliveries have been made to isolated and vulnerable households, older people and individuals in remote rural regions nationally since March, in what has been a very challenging year, according to the Irish Red Cross who have announced a 2 year deal to renew their major corporate partnership with Lottoland. The donations generated by the innovative new partnership activities is already making an impact, helping with the funding of food parcels as well as supporting the ongoing selfless work delivered by the Irish Red Cross’ dedicated community volunteers, who have grown in number by 378 new members since the beginning of 2020. The Irish Red Cross partnership continues to play a key role in Lottoland’s CSR strategy for Ireland due to the variety of its humanitarian projects they undertake, both at home and abroad, and the success it has had across many different types of communities.
The Irish Red Cross ambulance units have been in high demand, with a 300% increase in patient transfers since 2019. Over 600 patient transfers have taken place since March this year for non-emergency treatments like chemotherapy, dialysis appointments, GP and dental appointments for older people and these too will receive support from the new Win Win Charity Lotto, a weekly jackpot of at least €5 million with bets from €1.50 per line, which has been launched on Lottoland. Previous initiatives by the partners included the completion of a digital makeover of the Irish Red Cross fleet of over 130 ambulances nationwide, which digitised all traditional paper-based administration for charity’s entire fleet, saving an impressive 71,175 personnel hours per year.
Lottoland’s Irish Country Manager Graham Ross said “We’re delighted to renew our valuable partnership with the Irish Red Cross, particularly off the back of the heroic efforts of the charity’s volunteers and staff in delivering such an uplift in their much needed services in 2020. With the launch of the Win Win Charity Lotto, our Irish customers will be in a position to directly support the Irish Red Cross as part of the 20% of sales proceeds that will go to our Irish charity partners and we’re delighted to maintain the digitally-led innovation that has been a cornerstone of our work with the Irish Red Cross from the start of our partnership in 2018”.
Trevor Holmes, Secretary General of the Irish Red Cross added, "During Covid-19, the Irish Red Cross has been incredibly busy with often invisible work, helping vulnerable people in communities across Ireland. While all of our supporters have responded wonderfully it has still been a challenging year in which to raise funds and we still need help. We continue to rely on the support of all our corporate friends, such as Lottoland, through whose generosity we can continue our vital national work supporting communities again in 2021 and beyond."
