To celebrate two successful international educational programmes – ‘Positive Images’ and ‘Justice and Fairness’ , the British Red Cross held a three-day conference on migration and conflict from 5 – 7 November. Representatives from the ICRC, the IFRC and more than eleven National Societies attended the conference as well as teachers and other educators. The Irish Red Cross was represented by Louise Sarsfield Collins, Positive Images Project Officer.
Louise presented the work that the Irish Red Cross has done with Positive Images to date, focusing mainly on the roll out of the project and the awareness raising campaign amongst members. While this conference marked the end of the project in terms of EU funding, it is hoped that the project can continue in national societies across Europe that have been involved over the past year.
In Ireland, we are continuing to run training courses and find new ways for Positive Images to be integrated into the youth programme. A training for trainers course is due to take place in Dublin on 5 November and there are still places available. If you interested please contact Louise or download a booking form from the website. Positive Images will also feature at this year’s Youth Forum with workshops taking place for youth participants of all ages as well as youth leaders.
