Health and Social Care is the provision of community support services to the most vulnerable in Ireland.
Within the Irish Red Cross we endeavour to develop and oversee quality Health and Social Care services in order to promote healthy and safe living in our communities. By positioning sustainable Health and Social care programmes and services at the heart of local communities, we undertake to build more resilient communities around Ireland.
Our services aim to reach out and care for people living with illness, disability or loneliness. Services engaged in creating social inclusion for all within our communities through elderly social events, befriending and cultural awareness events to support the integration of refugees into Irish society. Offering support for voluntary Carers through our Helping You to Care programme, National Carer of the Year award, Carers handbook and Carers App.
Health and Social Care have a range of specialised services to support vulnerable members of the community dealing with loneliness or crisis. Therapeutic Care service provides volunteers to local care facilities and private homes, to provide therapeutic massage and a regular visit. Our community care teams trained in psychological first aid response to communities in crisis.
The Skin Camouflage service is available for those suffering from skin conditions like burns, severe scars or to cover a tattoo. The Irish Red Cross has several wheelchair accessible minibuses spread throughout Ireland. Minibuses available on request subject to volunteer availability to support community groups and assist those unable to secure transport.
As each community has its own unique needs. Local volunteers are best positioned within local communities to tailor our services to meet the needs of their community.
