Irish Red Cross is pleased to invite you to the 2025 edition of its annual International Humanitarian Law Conference.

When:

6 November 2025, 9.30 am – 1 pm

Where:

Hotel Riu Plaza The Gresham, Dublin

About:

This year’s edition, titled “From Commitments to Action: Protecting Humanity in Crisis, will discuss current challenges to the protection of civilians, examining the gap between States’ commitments to IHL and the realities faced by those in armed conflict.

With over 130 conflicts ongoing in the world, respect for the basic principles of IHL is more urgent than ever. Current trends show worrying setbacks in the protection of civilians, with record-breaking casualties among children, humanitarian workers, medical personnel and journalists. These statistics are in stark contrast with the commitments undertaken by States, and they are even more worrying in light of recent backsliding on the implementation of key humanitarian treaties in the name of security.

The 2025 International Humanitarian Law Conference will bring together experts, decisions makers, and practitioners to discuss these timely and important topics. Featuring keynote speeches by Minister of State Neale Richmond and IHL Coordinator for the Palestinian Red Crescent Society Ms Dana Abu Kosh, the event will also include a panel discussion with distinguished representatives of the humanitarian sector, media, academia and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

Join us for this unique opportunity to discuss how commitments to IHL can translate to better protection on the ground. Please note that this event will be in-person only.
