When disaster strikes, we must be ready – will you help?
Nepal is a beautiful country, with the Himalayas a spectacular presence. The people are kind and welcoming. For thousands of years, they have somehow survived in challenging conditions. Nepal is also one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world. Earthquakes, floods, and landslides are all too common. More than 80% of the Nepali people are at risk from these disasters. With support from kind people like you, the Irish Red Cross was there to help when tremendous earthquakes struck in 2015. But given Nepal’s vulnerabilities – made worse by climate change – we knew we had to do more than react.
