Indonesia: Red Cross teams “don’t know what we’ll find” at earthquake and tsunami disaster zone"

Please act now to save lives.
Why we need your help.

The Indonesian province of Central Sulawesi was hit by a series of earthquakes - the strongest being of 7.4 magnitude - and a powerful tsunami on Friday 28 September. The full extent of the disaster is not yet clear, but at least 844 people have been killed, including 821 in the devastated city of Palu. Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency has warned that the final death toll may be in the thousands.

Indonesian Red Cross teams have been on the scene since the first earthquake hit, with search-and-rescue teams, ambulances and first aid crews. Emergency medical, water and sanitation teams are racing to help but accessing some of the worst affected areas is difficult.

While the full impact of the quake has yet to be determined, your help is urgently needed.
