Thank you for joining us at this year's Irish Red Cross Humanitairian Awards 2020.

Christmas should be a time for food, fun, family and friends. But for many of the families we support, this is a Christmas they can only dream of.

Right here in Ireland, our volunteers continue to provide urgently needed, round-the-clock support in local communities. Transporting patients to essential medical treatments and delivering food and medication to vulnerable people cocooning through the COVID19 pandemic

People like Kathleen, who lives alone but needs to have chemotherapy treatment during level 5 lockdown.  Without transportation, she would have to stay at a hospital. But because the Irish Red Volunteers are there to help, she is able to stay in the comfort of her own home and still receive life-saving treatment.

“In the morning, they would know just looking at me if I needed a drink or a rest. They’d stop somewhere and buy me a coffee. They were so good and kind to me, and still are. I wouldn’t be able to get through this without them.” - Kathleen

In Beirut, a child clings to her father’s hand as they wander through the city, desperately trying to find news of her mother…

And in Yemen, a young mother shelters in an abandoned school, wondering how she will feed her four children in the morning…

War, disaster, disease… they torment too many people around the world. That’s why it’s so important that you are here to help.

Please will you help the Red Cross feed, shelter, and care for them with a special Christmas gift?

Your gift of any size will be treasured.

Thank you!
