Leaving a Gift in your Will and Free Online Will-Writing Service

LEAVING A GIFT IN YOUR WILL

When writing a will, many people choose to leave a gift (financial or otherwise) to the Irish Red Cross. This final act of generosity is a gracious gesture that enables us to continue our work in Ireland and abroad.

Why leave a legacy to the Irish Red Cross

Having a Will ensures that your estate goes to the people and causes you care most about. After you have taken care of your family and loved ones, you can leave a truly memorable and inspiring legacy. Large or small, it is a special and personal way to make an impact on a cause you cherish most for the future. When the Irish Red Cross knows that someone has left us a legacy gift, it allows us to make long-term commitments to the communities we work in and respond immediately in crisis situations. Leaving a legacy in your Will to the Irish Red Cross will bring emergency relief to people suffering hunger, violence, and other unjust crises. Leaving a legacy will also help people who need rescue and care here in Ireland.

How to leave a Legacy?

There are three types of legacies that you can leave to the Irish Red Cross

1. A share of your estate (Residuary Legacy gift); once you’ve worked out what you’re leaving to family and friends, even 1% of your estate can make the greatest difference.

2. A specific sum of money (Pecuniary Legacy donation); if you want to leave a lump sum of any amount to the Irish Red Cross, you specify this amount in your Will.

3. A specific item; maybe jewelry, a painting, or any item you wish to donate which you think will be of some value to the Irish Red Cross’ work when sold.

Our Promise to You

1. We understand that your family and loved ones will always come first.

2. We will always respect your privacy. We recognize and appreciate that your Will is completely personal to you.

3. You can tell us that you’ve left a gift if you want to, and we’d love to hear from you if only to thank you – but you don’t need to tell us and we won’t keep asking you to.

4. We will give you and your family as much choice as we can about how and where your gift will be used to make the biggest difference.

5. You always have the right to change your mind about a gift in your Will to the Irish Red Cross.

6: We will use your gift to change the lives of people you care about; those who are most in need.
